Family Search (Free software download) By using the link at the end of these notes you will arrive at the Family Search Homepage. On the Homepage, on the right you will see a link named 'download paf'. Follow this link to register and download the free family tree software
(After download and installation you will need to setup one of the programme options, as follows: open the PAF5 application - at top of screen click tools - on tools screen click preferences - on preferences screen click names tab - on names tab screen click in append names section - click and dot the RIN [Record ID Number] option - now click OK and you are ready to run.)

When downloading the programme - if you prefer - you can UNTICK 'use lds data', and 'view getting started manual'. Make sure however that you DO TICK 'English language'.
Family Search (Find a Family History Centre)
These centres offer free help and advice to anyone searching their family tree. They have computer access to census records from 1841 to 1901 and a vast collection of research materials. To find a Family History Centre near you look on the Homepage to the section entiled 'Find a family history centre near you' and type in England.
Family Search (Free research using the world's largest genealogy database)
On the Homepage, click the search tab. You can search all the information available, which includes the 1881 census and many other christening, marriage and death records. (you can contact the family history centres for help with these searches).
